A Sunny Spring Wedding at Priston Mill – Timeless Romance in the Somerset Countryside
As a wedding photographer, there are some days that feel like pure magic from beginning to end—and this wedding at Priston Mill was exactly that. Nestled in the heart of the Somerset countryside, Priston Mill is one of those rare venues that effortlessly blends historic character with natural beauty. It’s always a joy to photograph here, and this spring celebration was no exception.
The couple chose the beautiful Tythe Barn at Priston Mill for both their ceremony and reception. With its ancient stone walls, soaring oak beams, and soft spring light streaming in through the windows, the space felt warm, romantic, and utterly timeless. Outside, the gardens were just starting to bloom, adding bursts of colour to the soft greens of the surrounding landscape.
From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was filled with joy and anticipation. The bride got ready in a sunlit room nearby, surrounded by her closest friends. She wore an off-the-shoulder gown that moved so gracefully with every step. The groom looked effortlessly classic in a tuxedo, and his face lit up the moment he saw her walking down the aisle.
Their ceremony was heartfelt and deeply personal, with laughter, happy tears, and the kind of quiet, unspoken moments that say everything. Photographing in the Tythe Barn is always such a pleasure—the textures, the light, the warmth of the space—it all comes together to create something truly special.
After the confetti toss (one of my favourite moments to capture!), guests spilled out into the garden for drinks in the sunshine. We took a quiet walk through the grounds for some portraits, and the gentle spring light was a dream to work with.
As golden hour settled in, the barn was transformed with fairy lights and flickering candles. The couple’s first dance took place under twinkling lights and wooden beams, surrounded by the love and laughter of their closest people. It was one of those evenings where every single frame tells a story—of celebration, connection, and the kind of love that fills a room.
If you're planning a wedding at Priston Mill, whether in the Tythe Barn or the Watermill, I can't recommend this venue enough. It’s beautiful in every season, but in spring it truly comes alive. The team is fantastic, the setting is breathtaking, and as a photographer, it’s one of those places that inspires you with every click of the shutter.
If you're dreaming of a relaxed, romantic wedding in the Somerset countryside, I’d love to be there to capture it for you.
